B-Roll
Supplemental footage cut in over the main shot to illustrate what's being said and add visual variety.
Definition
B-roll is secondary footage layered over the primary 'A-roll' (usually the person talking). It might show the product in use, close-up details, lifestyle shots, or screen recordings — anything that visually supports the narration.
Why it matters
B-roll keeps a video visually dynamic and helps demonstrate claims instead of just stating them. Cutting to relevant b-roll at the right moments can hold attention and make a UGC ad feel more substantive than a single static talking-head shot.
How it applies to UGC ads
In UGC ads, b-roll often means product close-ups or demonstrations interspersed with the spokesperson. UGCABC composites your actual product into the scene, and you can intercut your own product b-roll to reinforce what the avatar is describing.
